The Story of How I Became Me!
From being an immigrant to a citizen of the United States and now a graduate, I have come a long way, however, it’s just the beginning of a new chapter. My family immigrated to Rochester NY in 2004 from Somalia. I was seven years old when I came to The United States of America and everything was new. Now that I been in the US for 15 years I managed to accomplish a lot. Since I was young I always found myself wanting to learn everything I can. This ambition has made me who I am today. When I was in high school my goal was to go to college for Information Technology, however, that was not my true calling. I attended Rochester Academy Charter School for both middle school and high school. In which I built strong connections with my teachers, faculties and some good friends.
When I applied to Nazareth College in 2015, I had no clue what I wanted to major in. My guidance counselor helped me choose Communication and Media. I know I wanted to do something that would allow me to use social media, develop websites, or edit videos. When I found out I could do all that with Communication and Media degree I declared it my major. Now that I have graduated with a Communications degree I can do what I enjoy doing. I know this is just a new chapter in my life but I can’t wait to grow and learn more in the next chapters to come.
